Fix Your Thinking, Fix Your Life
Same Facts. New Story. Different Life.
One October night, Jon Levesque was curled up on an aluminum bench at a ferry terminal - thirty years old, marriage gone, house gone, church gone, bank account emptied on the way out.
Same guy, ten years later: an executive career, a marriage that's an absolute yes, and a generational cycle that ended because he decided it ended with him.
The facts didn't change. The story did.
This book is the toolkit - fourteen frameworks for finding the code you've been running since childhood, separating what happened from what you made it mean, and writing something better.

The bench was aluminum and cold as hell.
I was curled up on it like a dog trying to stay warm - t-shirt, shorts, a thin sweatshirt pulled over me like a blanket that wasn't doing shit. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, that specific hum that makes everything feel like a hospital waiting room at 3am. Wind whipped through the terminal because the place was basically a concrete tunnel open to the water on both ends. October in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe 55 degrees, which doesn't sound bad until you're lying on metal in shorts with nothing but a hoodie between you and the night.
I was thirty years old.
Fourteen frameworks. Four parts.
Every chapter tells a true story, then ends with Do the Work: the framework in a sentence or two, a few questions to ask yourself, and one exercise to try.
Part I
The Code Gets Written Early
Chapter 1
The Stories You're Telling Yourself
The voice in your head isn't truth. It's programming... written by a kid, still running on the adult. You can't rewrite code you've never read.
Chapter 2
The Trap You Built Without Knowing It
Every "fine" tightens the trap. "Fine" is not a yes. It's a slow no to your own life.
Chapter 3
The Complaint You're Married To
The grievance that pays you in righteousness and charges you everything else. Divorce it.
Part II
Strip the Code
Chapter 4
Facts vs. Fiction
What happened and what you made it mean are two different things. You wrote the meaning. You can rewrite it.
Chapter 5
You Decided Before They Spoke
You decided what they meant before they spoke. Catch it red-handed: "What I heard was ___. Is that what you said?"
Chapter 6
Is It Working?
Not "could it work someday." Right now, in reality. If the math doesn't math, it's not working.
Chapter 7
Being In My Life Is a Privilege
Access to you gets earned... even by family. Especially by family. Change the locks.
Chapter 8
The Armor That Became a Cage
What protected you then is imprisoning you now. The door has always been unlocked from the inside.
Part III
Rewrite the Code
Chapter 9
Stop Surviving, Play to Win
Survival mode has a ceiling. Stop asking "how do I not lose?" Start asking "how do I win?"
Chapter 10
Let Them In
Community doesn't find you... you build it. Needing people isn't weakness. It might be your superpower.
Chapter 11
Fuck Yes or Fuck No
Commitments require fuck yes. Adventures only require why not. Know which question you're asking.
Chapter 12
Love Has Levels
You might be settling for a 4 because nobody ever showed you a 10. Take the armor off and find out.
Part IV
The Proof
Chapter 13
The Climb
No big leaps. Rungs. Every job, every risk, every ask is a parlay to the next one.
Chapter 14
The Cycle Breaking
You don't have to pass down everything you were handed. Keep the gold. Refuse the rest. What you refuse to pass on ends with you.

Jon Levesque
I'm Jon Levesque and I probably have no business writing a self-help book. I'm a high school dropout with a GED - no degree, no certifications, no letters after my name. What I have instead is receipts: eighteen moves before finishing school, a childhood of empty fridges, a first marriage that ended with a cleaned-out condo, and one long October night on a ferry terminal bench at what looked a lot like rock bottom. Then I fixed my thinking.
I went from minimum wage to executive leadership, I have built online communities millions strong for some of the biggest names in tech, and I speak on stages around the world that the kid I used to be was never supposed to see... let alone stand on.
I live in the Pacific Northwest with my wife, Alisha, and our three kids (plus Memere!). This is my first book. I didn't write it to inspire you. I wrote it to hand you the tools to change your life and hopefully save you a lot of time and money that I spent to figure this all out. I would love to hear from you.
