What’s up my friends?!

On this adventure Jon joins Captain Brandon Hatch of Father and Sons Guide Service LLC for some ice fishing up in Colville, Washington! We spend the day on the ice catching fish and enjoying the toys if the locals.

One of the coolest parts about this trip was one of Brandon’s close friends allowing us to borrow his rad 4×4 ATV/Trailer setup that was fitted with snow tracks on all four tires along with his brand new propane ice auger. This made loading our stuff and traveling out onto the ice a lot easier. It also allowed us to move around the lake between two different spots.

Each of the different spots we fished at was a habitat for different kinds of fish. One was very thick with rainbow trout, as you can see from within the first 45 minutes we were on the ice we caught 4 of them. I should mention that this trip was very COLD. The temperature outside was never above freezing. These conditions are needed in order to have thick enough ice to drive and walk on.

One thing is for sure and that is we will do our best to make this trip an annual occurrence because the amount of fun and freedom that I felt while out on a frozen lake all day operating gas powered machinery and a fishing pole was a lot more than I anticipated. However, being in the company of good friends for all of it was really what made this trip special. From indulging in incredibly unhealthy diner food to staring up at the pitch black night sky as we walked out onto the lake at night, this trip was one for the books and I look forward to the next time I visit Colville, WA!
